January started with these bright bold colors the sing of spring to come. I got a bit lucky with two primaries to work with, though the yellow is very very bold. I find the waterbased markers to be great tools and this Persian Blue delivers some very nice transparency.

  • Art & Graphic Twin RB+F by Zig: This is a versatile tool and if you like both types of tips the Real Brush and Felt, this is the better investment. The real brush allows you to dip into water or scribble onto a pallet and then dilute with water and a separate brush. I received the Persian Blue color. This pigment is a good indicator of high quality through out the product line and upholds the reputation of Zig as an art supply producer. The pigment dilutes well, stays crisp, clean and translucent. The only drawback to a serious artist is that there is no color fastness ratings.
  • GOLDEN High Flow Acrylic Paints:The colors I received were Fluorescent Chartreuse and Fluorescent Blue. The wide versatility of the intended application of the media should gain appeal to most mixed media artists. The drawbacks to these pigments were there lightfastness and a slight chalky look to the pigment that reminded me of tempra.
  • Koh-I-Noor Magnaum Black Star Pencil:This was a fat HB 1821 wooden pencil. I felt lucky to get my preferred hardness which is the most ideal for working with watercolor. The benefit over a wood pencil is that the lead allows for softer pressure than those of mechanical pencils.
  • Snap! Series Paintbrushes by Princeton Brush:I received a #6 Flat Shader, not as versatile as a round, but worked very well with the acrylic media. No loose bristles, cleaned well, and retained shape.
